Dr. Ray Klein didn’t always know he wanted to work with children’s teeth. His path to pediatric dentistry started in an unexpected place: the film business. After completing his undergraduate studies in Cinema/Television at USC, Dr. Ray Klein spent nearly a decade working in film and TV production before deciding to change careers. Wanting to start a family, he knew the long hours spent on a film set weren’t great for raising a family. He attended the USC School of Dentistry and didn’t plan on specializing in pediatrics, but at some point during dental school, between making his fourth and fifth set of dentures, he realized his calling was helping children.
This realization led Dr. Ray Klein back to USC (third time!) for two additional years of pediatric training, including a residency at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach. Today, he’s a board-certified pediatric dentist who brings his friendly, funny personality to every patient interaction. His goal is “Total Tooth Decay Decimation,” and making sure parents and patients know how to care for their teeth and make good decisions about what they eat and drink.
Dr. Ray is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry — an honor society that recognizes dentists for their ethics, professionalism, and service to the field. It’s not automatic, and not every pediatric dentist holds it. He was also one of the founding members of the Student Professional Ethics Association during his training, which tells you something about what he cared about even before he opened his own practice.
Dr. Ray Klein understands new places can make kids (and parents!) nervous, so he gives them all the time and tenderness they need. His approach focuses on putting both patients and parents at ease.
Rather than rushing through appointments, Dr. Ray Klein takes time to explain treatments in kid-friendly language and ensures each child feels comfortable before moving forward. If parents have questions, they feel comfortable asking him and know he’ll spend as much time as needed to answer their questions.
Silicon Beach Pediatric Dental is located in Culver City, adjacent to Playa Vista and easily accessible for busy families. The practice serves families throughout Culver City, Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, Venice, Ladera Heights, Westchester, Mar Vista, Inglewood, and beyond.
When he’s not at the office, Dr. Ray Klein is a devoted dad who loves whipping up new recipes from the farmers’ market. He also enjoys exploring remote parts of Peru, his wife’s home country, which gives him a chance to practice his fluent Spanish. And he keeps up with the latest kids’ movies, which he playfully calls “research.”
Dr. Ray Klein feels fortunate to have found work where his skills make a real difference in young people’s lives, providing a foundation for good health one tooth at a time. His genuine love for working with children shines through in every interaction, whether he’s explaining proper brushing techniques or celebrating a child’s cavity-free checkup.
