There are a lot of pediatric dental offices in the Los Angeles area. Most of them will clean your child’s teeth and send you on your way. We wanted to build something different — a place that actually feels like part of the neighborhood, where families run into each other in the waiting room because they all came from the same school or the same ballet class.
Silicon Beach Pediatric Dental opened in Culver City because Dr. Ray Klein saw a gap. Not just in pediatric dental access, but in how practices treat families. Too clinical. Too rushed. Too focused on getting through a checklist. He wanted something that felt more like a community resource than a medical office — the kind of place you tell other parents about because it actually made your kid feel okay about going to the dentist.
Dr. Ray Klein DDS is a pediatric dentist who is passionate about working with children and their parents on the prevention of cavities and dental education. Dr. Ray specializes in putting patients and parents at ease with his warm, funny personality. His goal is Total Tooth Decay Decimation! but he’s happy making sure all of his patients know how to care for their teeth and make good decisions about what they eat and drink.
Before he found his way to safeguarding teeth Dr. Ray Klein completed his undergraduate studies in film at USC, worked in movie and TV production for several years before returning to his alma mater for his dental degree. Sometime between making his fourth and fifth set of dentures, he realized that he wanted to help children exclusively. And so, after two additional years of pediatric training at USC, including a residency at Miller Children’s Hospital, Ray Klein became Dr. Ray Klein, an amazing, board-certified pediatric dentist!
In his personal time, in addition to being a great dad, Dr. Ray Klein can be found cooking his latest find from the local farmers market. Always in search of adventure he loves exploring remote parts of Peru—his wife’s birthplace and an opportunity to practice his fluent Spanish. He still loves watching movies—including the latest kids’ movies (he calls it “research”).
Dr. Ray Klein feels lucky to have found a job where his skills make a difference in the lives of so many young people – providing a foundation for good health one tooth at a time.
If you’ve been coming to our office long enough, you may remember Dr. Hayley Botwin cleaning your child’s teeth – although in 2019 she had not yet become a dentist!
Born and raised in Southern California Dr. Hayley Botwin earned her first Bachelor’s degree at Boston University. After graduation she accepted a position as Camp Director at a residential summer camp for kids. Returning to Southern California she earned a second Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from USC. It was around this time, in 2019, we were introduced and Dr. Hayley Botwin worked part-time as a hygienist while completing dental school. Parents and patients found her to be incredibly kind, caring and loving and often requested appointments on the days she was working. In 2022 Dr. Hayley Botwin graduated from USC Dental School and decided to specialize in pediatrics at the prestigious USC Pediatric Residency program.
We’re thrilled to welcome her to our practice, knowing what wonderful care she delivers. As Dr. Ray Klein put it, “I’m so happy having someone join our team who understands our conservative style and provides the same level of love and care we work hard to provide.” We can’t wait for all our families to meet the newest addition to Silicon Beach Pediatric Dental!
We’re not big fans of drilling. That probably sounds strange coming from a dental office, but it’s true. Dr. Ray Klein and Dr. Hayley Botwin both trained at USC’s pediatric program — one of the most respected in the country — and came away with the same philosophy: the best outcome is the one where we never have to do much at all.
That means we spend a lot of time on prevention and education. We’ll talk with you about the small daily habits that actually move the needle — not to lecture you, but because knowing why something matters makes it a lot easier to follow through on at home. We’d rather spend an extra five minutes explaining what’s happening with your child’s teeth than have you come back in six months with a problem we could have avoided.
We also don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Every family is different. Every kid is different. We try to meet yours where they are — whether that means a slow, exploratory first visit or a kid who hops right in the chair and wants to get going. Both are fine with us.
We’re located just east of the 405 in Culver City, which puts us at an easy drive from Marina del Rey, Playa Vista, Venice, Westchester, Ladera Heights, Mar Vista, and Inglewood. Our office has an open bay setup — meaning kids can actually see each other during appointments, which turns out to make a big difference. We’ve had two separate families book the same time slot so their kids could come in together. That’s the kind of thing we love.
Dr. Ray also speaks fluent Spanish, which matters in a community as diverse as ours. If Spanish is the language you’re most comfortable in, we want you to feel like you can ask every question and understand every answer. Dental care shouldn’t have a language barrier.
We’re in-network with nearly all PPO plans and we verify your benefits before your first visit so there are no surprises at checkout. If you have questions about your specific plan, just call us — we’ll figure it out together.
We’re not trying to be a fancy office that impresses you with equipment. We’re trying to be the practice that your kid actually doesn’t dread coming to, and that you trust to give you straight answers without upselling you on things they don’t need.
Dr. Ray has said it himself: he always wanted this practice to feel less like an office in a building off to the side and more like a place that’s woven into the community — like your favorite spot at the farmers market or the shoe store you’ve been going to for years. A place that’s just part of the neighborhood.
