Learn more →Our office doesn’t look or feel like a typical dental practice. We’ve designed everything to help kids feel relaxed from the moment they walk in. Our team moves at your child’s pace and we never rush through appointments or push treatment on a child who isn’t ready.
Dr. Ray Klein is board-certified in pediatric dentistry and completed his residency at Miller Children’s Hospital after USC dental school. His background in film and TV before dentistry means he connects with kids in a way that feels natural, not clinical. He also speaks fluent Spanish, which helps many families in the Marina Del Rey community feel more comfortable. Dr. Hayley Botwin completed the USC Pediatric Residency program and is board-eligible in pediatric dentistry. Many families knew her as a hygienist before she became a doctor and specifically requested her because of how patient and attentive she is with kids.
Some kids are ready from visit one. Others need a few appointments before they’re fully comfortable, and that’s completely fine. Both Dr. Ray and Dr. Hayley know how to work with anxious children using calm, age-appropriate explanations and positive reinforcement so each visit is a little easier than the last.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling a first dental visit by age one or within six months of the first tooth appearing. These early appointments aren’t about deep cleaning. They’re about introducing your child to the dentist, building positive associations, and giving you information about what to expect as more teeth come in.
We’ll examine your child’s teeth and gums, demonstrate proper brushing techniques, and discuss nutrition and its effects on developing teeth. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions about teething, bottles, and anything else you’re wondering about. If your child is comfortable, we may do a gentle cleaning. If they’re not ready, that’s fine too. The goal is to make this a positive experience.
First visits usually last about 30 minutes. For very young toddlers, you may hold your child on your lap during the exam. Older kids typically sit in the dental chair by themselves. We’ll take treatments at whatever pace feels right for your child.
