Accepting New Patients
Your pediatrician said it’s time for your toddler’s first dental visit, and now you’re searching at 10 PM trying to figure out who actually specializes in kids. That’s exactly who we are. Silicon Beach Pediatric Dental serves West Los Angeles families with pediatric dentists who completed dedicated residency training and work exclusively with children, from their first tooth through their teen years.
Our office is in Culver City, just east of the 405 and easy to reach from anywhere on the Westside. We accept most PPO plans, run on time, and make first visits low-key so your toddler leaves with a good feeling about the dentist, not a complicated one.
Pediatric dentists complete two additional years of training after dental school, focusing exclusively on children’s dental needs from infancy to the teenage years. This extra education means we know how to communicate with kids at every developmental stage, manage their unique concerns, and identify potential problems early. Parents searching for a kids dentist in West LA often choose board-certified pediatric dentists over general practitioners for this reason.
Children aren’t just small adults. Their teeth, jaws, and oral health requirements differ completely from adult patients. According to the American Dental Association, babies are born with all their teeth already in their jaw, with the first teeth typically erupting around six months and all baby teeth appearing by age three. Baby teeth need specific care to ensure permanent teeth develop properly. We also understand how to make nervous children feel comfortable and safe during appointments.
We practice minimally invasive, straightforward dentistry, focusing on prevention first and only recommending procedures truly necessary for your child’s health. We’d rather teach your child how to avoid cavities than fill them later, which saves you money and your child time in our office.

First dental appointments involve more than just cleaning teeth. They’re opportunities for your child to meet their dentist, explore the office, and start building trust. We explain everything in age-appropriate language and let children set the pace.
Our team understands new experiences can make kids nervous. We focus on making dental care educational and fun. When children understand why oral health matters and feel proud of their healthy smiles, they’re more likely to take good care of their teeth at home.
Dr. Ray Klein and Dr. Hayley Botwin bring exceptional training and genuinely warm personalities to every appointment, which is exactly what West LA families are looking for in a kids dentist.
Before becoming a pediatric dentist, Dr. Ray studied film at USC and worked in TV production. The career switch to dentistry revealed where he truly belonged. After completing dental school, he pursued a two-year pediatric residency at Miller Children’s Hospital and earned his board certification in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Ray also speaks fluent Spanish, so Spanish-speaking families can have a real conversation in the language they’re most comfortable in.
Dr. Ray’s personality makes kids laugh and helps them feel relaxed during appointments. His focus on what he calls “Total Tooth Decay Decimation” means working closely with families on nutrition choices and daily oral care habits. Outside the office, he’s passionate about cooking with ingredients from local farmers’ markets and traveling through Peru with his family.
Dr. Hayley’s path to dentistry started at Boston University, followed by work as a camp director at a residential summer camp for kids. After returning to Southern California, she earned her dental hygiene degree from USC and joined the practice as a hygienist in 2019 while completing dental school. Families loved scheduling appointments with her because of her caring, attentive approach to their children.
After graduating from USC Dental School in 2022, she completed the USC Pediatric Residency program. She is board-eligible in pediatric dentistry and brings that same thoughtful, patient-centered care families already appreciated about her as a hygienist.
Are you wondering when you should schedule your child’s first dentist appointment? According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, children should see a dentist by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth coming in. These initial visits focus on getting your child comfortable with the dental environment while we check their mouth, talk about feeding habits and cleaning routines, and address any concerns you might have about teething or development.
We recommend bringing your child back every six months so we can track how their teeth are growing and catch any issues while they’re still minor. These regular checkups give us time to work on your child’s brushing and flossing skills, explain the importance of these habits, and provide guidance on at-home care to prevent future issues.
West Los Angeles parents searching for the right dental home for their children find what they’re looking for at Silicon Beach Pediatric Dental. Dr. Ray Klein and Dr. Hayley both completed rigorous USC pediatric residencies and understand how to make appointments comfortable and stress-free for kids.
We take time with every appointment because building trust matters more than rushing through a schedule. Our state-of-the-art facility combines modern technology with a kid-friendly environment where children feel safe and parents feel informed. Contact us today to schedule your child’s appointment and experience the difference board-certified pediatric dentists make.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends scheduling your child’s first dental appointment by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears. Early visits help prevent problems and get kids comfortable with dental care from a young age.
Pediatric dentists complete two additional years of training focused solely on children’s dental needs. We’re trained in child psychology, development, and techniques making dental visits positive experiences for kids of all ages.
Yes, we work with most dental insurance plans. Our office will verify your benefits and help you understand your coverage before any treatment. We also offer flexible payment options for families.
Most children should see their pediatric dentist every six months for routine cleanings and exams. Some kids may need more frequent visits depending on their cavity risk, orthodontic needs, or other dental concerns.
Keep the conversation positive and simple. Read books about visiting the dentist, but avoid using words like “pain” or “hurt.” We know how to introduce dental care in age-appropriate ways without creating anxiety.
